As the cool, wet autumn season continues, our trees hold onto their leaves, creating spectacular colour displays. In the areas, look for cherry trees with green bottoms and red tops and beech trees showcasing green, orange, and yellow hues. Enjoy these beautiful sights in our parks and streets before the frost arrives and the leaves fall.
We are thrilled to announce that we won the "Garden of the Future" category in the TFL In Bloom competition!
Our focus on self-sustaining permaculture with unusual edibles grown in small spaces, such as station platforms, impressed the judges.
Participants in the competition were invited to City Hall, and winners received unique watering cans, certificates, and medals.
TFL plans to create a special display case for the watering can in the Northwick Park ticket office window. You can already see the certificate and medal on display. Thank you to everyone who weeded, planted bulbs, sowed seeds, and mulched – your hard work is recognised!
We were photographed and interviewed by a fabulous team, including representatives from the National Trust, who are partnering with TFL on an exhibition of station gardens and gardeners.
We also built connections with Wembley Station, where their garden is on a once-empty space at the exit to the stadium, and Willesden Junction, where they are creating a garden in a disused space based on permaculture principles. We will set up some visits soon.
Don't forget to check out the News & Events page of this website for upcoming activities! On Saturday, the 26th of October, starting at 9:30 AM in the car park, we have a fundraiser for the garden – a Halloween dog walk. There will be face painting, photos, games, treats galore, and a fancy-dress competition with fabulous prizes. Fundraising refreshments will also be available. If you don't have a dog but want to support us, come and join our walk, have a chat, and buy some cake.
We look forward to seeing you!
